Until the great day of the grand LSP opening, I need somewhere to skate!

Old man, just back on the board after long time, no car just a bike and my board, where can I skate?

Would be great to find a nice bank to carve, but just some smooth place to practise would do.

Any tips guys?

Thx
Trev

uni is packed with spots to skate, you might get chased off by the scoobs, but worth it. stair sets, benches, couple of banks including a huge concrete single bank. have a scout around loughborough uni anyway, you'll find shit loads. other than that southfields isnt *too* bad, boardroom in leicester if thats still open. if you're looking for just flatland then basketball court on radmoore park.

Thanks for the tips Byerights

Is the halfpipe on southfields rideable/safe?

Boardroom is still open, I try to get there at least once a week.

the half pipe is rideable but safety is a huge issue if you plan on skating it as it is an accident waiting to happen

i wouldnt recomend skating on it as last time i went on it there was screws sticking out of the ramp

If at first you dont succeed sky diving isnt for you

Yeah I thought so.

It's a real pain having a half pipe just up the road but having to travel out of town to ride one.

If we started screaming unsafe to the council do you think there's a chance they would re-skin it, or are they more likely to go and pull all the existing park down leaving nothing at all until we get the new one?

They re-surface that mini ramp quite often. They just never seem to do it right :-/

after saturday night we'll know a little more as we'll talk to someone who will do a better job about quoting for it

i thought it was a case of he was going to approve it to be reskinned by his approved company.

then we asked if we could see if dave from the board room could quote as he'd do a better job?

you can do the asking of dave if you'd like TJ?

Why thank you, but as you seem to be on the case you go for it.

I started this thread and confronted Colin with this issue with the intention of trying to get it sorted without detracting from the purpose our committee efforts which is to get a new park built.  I feel that the safety of the current ramps is an issue that should be dealt with urgently and is the resposibility of the council to maintain it's current facility and should not come out of the projects budget.

Being a parent, I have grave concerns about my children and their friends using the ramps, like many have said, they are an accident/court case waiting to happen.

As I understood it Colin wanted new companies put forward that the skaters approved of as most seem to be disatified with the curent approved company.

I suggest the companies be assesed by those with some ramp riding and/or carpentry experience (mmm...was it?..no..it couldn't have been....oh yes I did use a saw once...no...don't be silly... a carpenter? me ... yes but a friend would remember that surely?..no it wasn't me).

My intuition is Dave at the boardroom would not meet the councils  health and safety criteria as his insuarnces would probably be for the Boardroom Skatepark, not for working onsite. In addition, I don't think he has the tools to function without mains power. Saying that, I had planned to speak with him tomorrow as he is closed on Thursdays.

Had also planned to speak to Urban Ramps Ltd tomorrow:
Lazarus Court, Woodgate Rothley, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE7 7NR, Tel: 0116 237 5553.http://www.urbanramps.co.uk

As it is common businesspractice to tender quotes from 3 diferent sources, you may need to find some other companies.

Good luck dude, but don't hang around, that's a dangerous place down there.

Just wanted to know if all has been done ready for Colin, as you said you were sorting...
I think time is of the essence in getting these details to Colin as very soon the winter will be upon us and they will not wish to re skin the park in bad conditions.
As we all agreed, the current park is  an accident waiting to happen, so we shouldnt miss the opportunity to get it sorted so that nobody gets hurt before the new park is built!
Thx

So, bottom line, nothing has been done so far on this?

Is there anybody else out there that would be happy to take up the flame on this one and get it sorted?

TJ had agreed to do this prior to Boardaholic's offer to sort it. However, TJ has been forced to step down fron the committee due to a recurring illness and thus, i too have had to step down.

Soo, am really hoping someone else will be able to get this arranged asap (all details in thread) so that we will have a safe place to skate, untill we get our new fabdabulous one.

thanks
